It is a fairly known fact that meditation is good for the soul. There are numerous scientifically proven benefits – click here to read them all in full. It is particularly helpful for reducing depression and anxiety so if you suffer from either illness, meditation is something that you should implement in your life. It is also great for reducing stress. Taking the time out of your busy day to meditate has been proven to do more good than bad. I know it can seem difficult to carve out 10-15 minutes to sit down and listen to a strangers voice but I urge you to find the time anyway and simply give it a go.
If you are new to meditation and would like to read up before hand, I recommend the book ‘Quiet the Mind’ by Matthew Johnstone. It is beautifully illustrated and really captures the purpose of meditation. So if you were unsure of why you should meditate before reading the book, you won’t be after.
As I have been meditating for about one year now, I use the app called ‘Calm’. You can find it on the app store for free! However, if you want more specific meditation categories I would recommend paying for the yearly subscription. If you meditate every single day (as recommended) then the money is definitely not wasted.
Let me know how meditation impacts your life! I know it has been a positive experience for me. Since starting my meditation journey, I feel more relaxed, mindful, calm and aware. These are all things that meditation has brought to my life and I am thankful.
